This is my 2nd Lego Movie cake which was actually made for my son after he saw my last Lego Movie cake and decided to change his mind from wanting a Power Rangers cake. But of course he wanted “his own special design” and did not want me making one anything remotely similar to the last one (other than the figures of course). So big pressure to put on my thinking cap and come up with something totally different, yet as nice. The only thing he helped me with (which of course turned out not to be help, but more work!) was to let me know what characters he wanted (four of ’em!!) and that he wanted the motorbike on there that Emmet and Wyldstyle rode in the beginning of the movie.

Well, that bike if anyone has seen the movie, is one feat of complexity that I was only willing to take on because my son specifically asked for it! Unfortunately, he had some tummy troubles early the week before his party, and his poor little sister came down with an unexplained fever, so I wasn’t sure I’d be able to even get a bike made at all as I had to tend to some cranky and clingy kiddos. I warned him that I might have to scrap the whole bike idea and he was so understanding and cool about it, that I just had to make it happen somehow. So instead of the complex version, I made a VERY simplified one…just to have the bike on the cake. Long story short, he was more than happy with it and hopefully he will remember how much I love him when he is older! So Happy Birthday to my little man who is enjoying his last year of single digit life!
