This cake is my first attempt at a cake with an internal support to raise it up and enable me to get it as close to the actual scooter as possible .
I have to say I was very stressed about this one as I had no idea if it would turn out ok or really how I was going to do it ! I kind of made it up as I went along ! Lol

I decided to start with an mdf base which I cut out myself and another piece supported by dowels and another for the main support of the handle bars.

I covered the board in grey fondant and used a bark tool to give it a Tarmac effect . Very time consuming but an effective end result – then I sprayed it black with my air brush .

I then built up the wheels with fondant around the dowels so you couldn’t see them and added the first later of cake at the front and back which I then carved filled and covered in fondant .

So far so good but the main challenge was how I was going to support the curved front part without it falling off !!
After a few attempts I added cmc to some gum paste so it hardened quite quickly and secured it with piping gel .

Next I added the handle bars and other details done if which needed extra support with wires like the foot pedal and brakes .

The seat was another layer of cake .
I used some rice crispy cake to build up some of the structures also .
Once dried I then painted the details in like the silver parts and tax disc .

I tried to get in as much of the details as possible . The final detail is a replica of the helmet .

I am really pleased with the end result and it has given me the confidence now to try something new xx

Hope you like it x
