I absolutely loved making this cake for my Dad’s birthday. I was instructed to use the fruit cake leftover from Christmas so needed a design on a simple 6 inch round and this cake from Carlos Lischetti’s book was ideal! It was actually very easy to make – just took a long time between stages for drying!

Yes, the lantern is sugarpaste with a skewer for support! The design is exactly as in the book. x
