A celebration cake for a gentleman who is retiring after 31 years of working with Harsco Rail. You may have seen the ‘regular’ pickup trucks that can run on train tracks as well as on the road? That system that converts the trucks to the rails is called a Hy-Rail, & he worked in that division. The truck on top of the cake is NOT edible—-it’s a toy Ford F-250, & I added the Hy-Rail apparatus in gumpaste.

Since he is an engineer, I kept the decor very masculine & graphic. The silver & blue are Harsco’s colors, & I accented with black & white. He is an avid woodworker, so the tools on the top tier reflect his love of his workbench. I had a little fun with the rail signs, as on the back of the cake I placed a sign that says “Don’t Argue with the Engineer”! Haha! The RR ‘ties’ are KitKats & the gears & tools are modeling chocolate.

The top tier is an extra-tall Australian Chocolate Mud with Peanut Butter filling & Milk chocolate/peanut butter ganache. The lower tier is Almond-amaretto cake with White Chocolate Buttercream filling & White Chocolate ganache.

Cakes ROCK!!! Christy Seguin, Austin, TX
