I just finished making these butterflies for a tutorial. Something fun to make and a bit different for me. I really enjoyed colouring them. After a lot of trial and error and disappointment trying to get a jet black edible black I stumbled across the airbrush black.

My biggest week of cake making ever. All up there were 10 of these ordered for Mothers Day. All were chocolate mud cake, covered in chocolate ganache and fondant. These cakes used the orchid’s I made a couple weeks ago when I had my first attempt at making them.
Happy Mothers day to you all, kiss your kids and treasure every day with them. Trust me I know with a 21 and a 20 year old son and a 5 year old daughter, it goes by all to fast.

I wasn’t sure if I should have put this cake on Cakes Decor with my other cakes, but after thinking about it overnight I decided it was as good as mine and certainly made with as much love and pride as anything I have ever made.
I gave my little princess this bare cake and the edible markers to decorate it with, the markers had rather sharp horrible ends and kept digging into the icing, so I diluted the food colours gave her a paint brush and told her to go for it.
She was so proud of her cake and so was her dad <3

This was a last minute order, I must say I almost fainted with fright at the thought of being asked to make a motor bike. I had a week to make the decorations, move my son and his family into his new house, and be a mummy to my 5 year old daughter and not be a totally negligent wife :) I also managed in that week to take photos and put a PDF tutorial together and
put it in my Facebook shop…. Now that was an epic adventure, not computer smart me, the tutorial was bad enough working out how to use the Facebook shop was a nightmare lol.

I have been dying to get some spare time so I can have a go at some sugar flowers. So here is my first ever Cattleya Orchids…. Special thanks to Christine at La lavande cake boutique, poor lady hasn’t had a peaceful moment since i took on this adventure. Gee even when I had finished I was messaging her telling her to be brutally honest and tell me where to improve…..I’m certain she must have been blessing the time zone difference when I would go to bed and give her a little peace :) Christine Craig you are my female Alan Dunn you are my inspiration.

With out a doubt this has been the hardest most challenging cake I have made. I have doubted myself so many time while I was modelling this train and characters. The train is made from rice crispy treats and gumpaste, the dinosaurs , nest trees etc. are made from gumpaste. The cobblestone is hand rolled balls of fondant, ball after ball after ball after tedious ball… Thank you so much to Jacinta at Kidacity, Rae at CakesbyRaewyn for your ear when i was having a sook, and to my lovely sugar mummy Christine and La lavande cake boutique for her never ending support and encouragement.

This cake was made for my sons girlfriends 18th birthday last year. She is shoe mad, so there was never a doubt what style of cake I wanted to make for her, only weather or not I could do it.. I didn’t have the shoe former or template, just cut it by hand and had objects around the house stacked for it to sit on to dry and managed to make it in just over a day. Take notice of the cake itself, it was mauve , got up the next morning and it had faded to blue. Last time I ever used that brand of mauve, so I added the silver and black ribbon to try and make it look a little more girly. The bling is non edible

This was made today for a little girl who’s sister goes to school with my daughter… Its my first sharp edge cake woo hoo :)

For some reason I have never uploaded this cake, I made it for my precious grandsons 1st birthday in August . Obviously he was a huge Bob fan, still is :)
The house was made from rice crispy treats , and spud that scarecrow looking thing was never planned to be hanging out the door , it was a last minute change because I didn’t have time to make his body
My hubby reckons I made the tree from HR puff and stuff :)

Customer supplied the design for this cake, should have been simple and straightforward !!!!!!! pffft, you would think I would know by now to NEVER think that. No cake is easy in 36+ degree heat and no air conditioning.

You might wonder why I have named this cake 101 roses… I have been know to exaggerate ;) but honestly I think it has taken me well over 100 practice roses (some tears, and some un-lady like words) to make anything that even resembles a realish rose. This cake was made the ladies request 2 yellow/orange roses, white chocolate cake with white chocolate ganache.

I made this cake for my sisters birthday, It was my first attempt at the David Austin Rose, and ditto my first attempt at making Alan Dunn’s old fashion Rose. My sister is a total purple freak, so there was no question, the roses had to be every shade of purple

This was made for a 30th birthday, Happy little chappie he was too :) The colour scheme was requested as it was the same as theirs. Also i was asked if the sheet across him could be removed, and he be to scale and detailed, it did and he was :)

This is my version of the Royal bakery’s Lesley’s tutorial. What can i say, other than she is totally amazing and with a guide like she released it was soooo simple to make… Although my 5 year old daughter was quite insistent santa had to have his moustache :)

louis Vuitton handbag, this was picked up christmas eve, Positively, without a doubt this cake was my nemesis, i ordered the stencil from the states, a month later and $50 it didnt get here, i made the LV patch my hand, it was hot and the fondant just stretched and became a elongated circular blob, i had the handles made days earlier to set as i was going to have handles that sat up, mmmm last job place the handles, my hubby came into the kitchen , tripped and yep you guessed it knocked the damn handle and broke one. Never have i been so glad to finish a cake and see it go…

This cake was made for a 21st birthday for a builder… Cake board is covered in icing, tools, screws etc is 100% edible :)
