I absolutely love girly bows. Ever since my daughter had long enough hair to be put back, I felt the need to have a matching bow or hair accessory for each outfit she’d wear. Gymboree bows were definitely a staple:) I really wanted to make a bow out of fondant that looked just like one of those fun adorable bows. Here is a tutorial on how to make a double bow. You can add more layers of loops and ribbon or even cute decorative accents. To start, I use rolled up wax paper cut into d...

This Mercedes Benz E-Class Cake was made out of a 10 inch square mud cake which was cut into half and placed one piece on top of another. I then carved the side profile of the cake (with a serrated knife) using a printed image of the car which was held up against the cake.I made sure the width of the car was proportional to the length by measuring the maximum width of the car from the printed images and trimming the excess straight down. I then carved the roof of the car which was slig...
I posted a few days ago Sydney will be turning 21, and I am creating a few different cakes for her to choose from for her party. This is the first cake for her to view. This cake is a billow weave, Susan Trianos has a wonderful video explaining how she creates a wonderful tufted billow weave cake. The first time I saw the billow weave I thought of Sydney, between her love of fashion and fondant cakes, I knew she would adore the fabric fondant cake.Read the whole s...
I have been asked several times for a tutorial on this, so I have made this video which is a collection of photos I took at the time and is by no means the best way to do one. It is merely a guide if you haven’t made one before and need ideas! I was very new to cake decorating and did not follow any guides or tutorials and was simply working from a photograph of a bike… so… there are many, many flaws. This was my first technical sugarpaste construction f...
Here’s my video tutorial for making a sleeping baby in a Santa outfit. It can be made in sugarpaste/ modelling paste/ modelling chocolate/ marzipan. The sizes of the body parts relate to the size of the head, so it could be made small enough for cupcakes or larger for bigger cakes by simply adjusting the sizes of the head/ head mould. I hope you like the video!
This is a record-short tutorial, but I thought I’d share it with you. Drying out gumpaste tiaras can be tricky since you want a concave shape. So, I found a very easy way. Here’s how: Materials: drying rack; styrofoam glass Cut two slits on the styrofoam glass and insert it onto the drying rack – it fits nice and snuggly. Then place your gumpaste tiara on top of the glass and let it dry. It will hold a beautiful shape and the glass won’t move at all. This c...
