Me…aka..Sugar Shey
Dear Sugar Diary,
Hi again! I have decided to share my most favorite cupcake ever…..EVER. Also..whenever that picture is at the top..from now on…it will be to let you know a recipe will be shared..ok? Ok. So ..today I am feeling so DRAMATIC…I woke up dramatic and held that emotion through out my day….so what do I do when DRAMA tries to ruin my usually happy disposition? A bride called and wanted an orchid lei for a grooms cake. How fun is that??? It was to match the brides cake and the other tropical flowers I made. This was so fun to put together after I made all those tiny orchids..
I couldn’t wrap the wires like usual since I couldn’t turn the lei I had to just wrap the tape around and keep the lei still. It was a bit difficult and slow going but I did it all without breaking any flowers.
I took this photo on a straw hat for display.

This is the most popular post on my blog, and the most viewed video on my YouTube channel, because it’s something we all have struggled with. In this video tutorial, I will show you my method for getting my cakes ice-rink smooth. And as an added bonus, I will provide my buttercream recipe below the video window.
This technique works best with an all butter icing. Feel free to try it with your own recipe, but I am providing my “kids” butter cream recipe if you want to...

Hi, bakers, if anyone has a cherry/banana cake recipe that you’d like to share, PLEASE, post it – you’ll be helping me out of a jam (no pun intended). I just got an order for a Mother’s Day cake and the client wants a white cake with a cherry-banana filling.
I’ve never done this combination – but I would think that a cherry filling is quite sweet and maybe a chocolate cake might be better… but since I’m not sure, I will welcome your recipes!...

Dear Sugar Diary,
There are things you don’t know when you get into caking. Things no one can prepare you for. So I have put together a list of the top 10 things I have learned the HARD way since I began caking…...
1) Everyone is NOT going to be nice to you. Not everyone will like your cakes…and not everyone will have something nice to say. And it will get you down…it will fester for a while and hurt your feelings…You will need to grow a tough skin and do ...

My cakey friends, here’s a video tutorial on how I made the big ruffle flower on the above cake. Just a heads up, I used 50/50 gum paste and fondant mixture on all the ruffle flowers shown in this video.
