I frosted an 8 & 10-inch round 2-layer cakes in blue buttercream icing. I made diver, treasure chest, and shark out of fondant, and allowed to dry for several days. I placed clear cake columns through 10- in. tier to line up stacking 8-inch tier that will be placed on 9-inch cake plate. I put 10-in. cake on 12-inch cake board. I used sugar tropical fish and buttercream icing detail for coral, and candy pebble rocks. In betwe...

I used 100% buttercream to frost cake with, and do all scrollwork, boarders, etc… 3-tier wedding cake (6-8-12 inch tiers) 2-layers in each tier w/ buttercream filling. I baked and frosted all tiers w/ buttercream frosting. I very lightly spritz sides of iced cakes w/ water. I smoothed icing by dipping icing spatula in very warm water, and shaking off excess. I continue to dip and shake off excess by tapping on side of tall cup or pitcher. *You can also dip spatula ...

As promised, here is the tutorial I did to help you make a princess barbie doll cake. you do not have to use a doll, you can model your own as well, but seeing as I was given this topper, I decided to give it a try and it was so much fun…. like being a little girl again and dressing up my dolls :)
If you have a domed cake tin, then great, if not, then this is what I did. 8”, 6” 4” round chocolate cakes, stacked and choc ganached and covered.
I used a photo of Spanish Cobblest...

There is a delicate whimsy in having a baby transform into some magical and enchanted being, making them fairies, bugs, princesses…. I delight, fuss and frustrate on every detail as I mold and sculpt and dress the little sugar babies so I can tuck the little sweet being in a sugar flower that adorns the cake…
It starts with a bit of inspiration from the “real” baby—-it actually eats my time and a whole lot of time!!! I just keep on looking at the photo of the real bab...

I made a quick video on how I cut my cakes. I’m pretty sure I learned this from another baker but I can’t pinpoint exactly where, but I’ve been using this technique on all my cakes for the last couple of years and its better than using toothpicks, the wilton or other not too good cake levelers, or eyeballing it. I’ve never used an agaby so I can’t compare it to that. This method is certainly easy and quick so I hope you like it and try it out for your self. Than...

I love to keep everything I do, very simple….but simple doesnt always mean EASY! LolFor this tutorial, you may want to use Gumpaste… I used Wilton Fondant (For the record, I ALWAYS use the Liz Marek Recipe, but for these, I wanted them to get hard, so I didnt.)
Start off with a strip of fondant, and cut both sides at an angle, depending on how big you want your feather! You may also want to try using your pizza cutter or small rolling cutter to give the feather dramatic curves&...
