I was inspired by, of all things, a 21 century insurance commercial. I realize how odd that may sound, but in the little commercial they show this fantasy land with grass, a pound, and flowers; the person who has the 21 century insurance receives a visit from a leprechaun…

ADVICE

80 days ago by Canadian | 2 comments »

Hi: I am new to cake and cupcake baking. Could someone give me some advice as to how long cupcakes will stay fresh. If I bake them on a Thursday for example would they stay fresh if they are iced and put in a box for a party for Saturday. I could use the same info for a cake as well. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

“In your Easter Bonnet with all The Frills Upon it”

86 days ago by Bobbie | 3 comments »

I have had a love for Judy Garland since I was a little girl; my father introduced me to The Wizard of Oz when I was two. From that moment on, I watched every Judy Garland movie I could find. I still can recall the first time I saw Judy Garland and Fred Astaire dancing and singing to classics like “We’re a Couple Swells”, “Drum Crazy”, and of course “Easter Parade”. I introduced Sydney to Judy Garland and… Read the whole story »

These have been my most popular cake and CakesDecor very kindly selected them as Editor’s Choice last year. I have been promising for ages to put together a guide to making these for those of you who have said ‘I can’t do that’. I hope you will be able to see that, yes you can. I solved the mystery of the peel away cupcake case!!

92 days ago by Bakingmaid | 4 comments »

Before we start, that is a picture of Keanu Reeves eating a cupcake! Sadly it’s not one of mine or am I the cupcake!! But I thought this picture would be better than just a cupcake alone for today ; ) One of the problems I found when starting baking was cupcake cases peeling away from the cake after baking! This is a big problem when doing batches of cupcakes for customers, It basically means starting over which can make you want to tear your hair out! I stressed for a couple of months ...
