As with most wired gum paste flowers, the bases need to be made well in advance so they will be completely dry when you’re ready to start making the roses. For the bases you’ll need: 22 gauge (food safe) floral wire, needle nose pliers, gum glue (dissolve a pinch of gum paste in a small amount of water), a small food safe brush, and gum paste.
Use the pliers to make a small hook on one end of the wires. For each rose base, pinch off a marble-sized amount of gum paste and ro...

Thanks to a few people who have urged me to share the process of making a fondant fairy plaque, I’ve created a photo tutorial. Enjoy..and let me know if you have any questions :)
I found a fairy image I liked by Googling “fairy coloring pages.”. I’ve also done several ‘Rainbow magic fairy’ cakes in the past. Print at least two copies to scale for your cake.
In this photo, you see the bottom of an 8 inch cake pan. I made a seven inch round ...

In order to make gum paste carnations on wires, you need to make the bases in advance. I like to make mine at least a day ahead and let them dry overnight.
You’ll need 22 gauge (food safe) floral wire, needle nose pliers, gum glue (dissolve a pinch of gum paste in a small amount of water), a small food safe brush, and gum paste.
Using the pliers, make a small hook at one end of the wire. Pinch off a small amount of gum paste and roll into a little bulb. Dip the hooked end of t...

To make (non-wired) gum paste carnations, you’ll need: gum paste, rolling pin, small modeling tool (or popsicle stick, chopstick, etc.), carnation cutter or a scalloped round cutter, shaping foam, dusting pouch, dog bone/ball tool, veining tool, frill stick, gum glue, food safe brush, empty egg carton.
Making the Base:
Dust work surfaces to precent gum paste sticking. Roll a marble-sized (or larger, depending on the size of carnation needed) ball of gum paste. Elongate the bal...

As this is a question I get asked quite a bit, I decided to photo my latest cupcake bouquet every step of the way to show exactly how it’s done. It’s fairly easy to do and by using different colours and decorations you can create a beautiful bouquet that not only looks lovely but tastes great too!
BakerLou – Cupcake Bouquet Tutorial
You will need:A suitable container (I like to use metal buckets that are easily available from florist suppliers, they are approx 6”...

It doesn’t last long but if you have a plastic original you can always make it again and again…. ;)You may ask me how much tylose…well that will depend how quick you will need your mould. ;)I have a online video now thanks to Learn Cake Decorating online ;)http://www.learncakedecoratingonline.com/#oid=5_1
