Castle Cake

54 days ago by Thecakeaddict | 0 comments »

Castle Cake:I found these snaps in my archive and thought it would help some one. Very fond memories are associated with this cake as this was my daughter’s first B day cake. And Yes, even my first Novelty cake and that too when I didn’t know the A B C D of baking or decorations. You can see all the flaws in the cake. Confession time : I used Betty Crocker chocolate cake mix and icing to make the 6 cakes. After all, who has the guts to try out a cake from scratch when they are trying it for t...

Interviews #14: Naomi Hubert from Tea Party Cakes

70 days ago by Michal Bulla | 17 comments »

I have been a stay-at-home Mom since the birth of my daughter in 2003. I have always had an artistic side, even at a young age. When I was little I spent many hours creating with the odds and ends found in the craft trunk my father made me, and when I wasn’t making some fantastic piece of art for my mother I was in the backyard in my sandbox making mud pies. It seems to me these two things have been a constant in my life, art and baking. It wasn’t until 2010 my two hobbies merge...

This tutorial shows how to make a two layer rainbow cake. I used Duff Electric Color gels and Wilton gels for the colors of the rainbow. Evenly separate you cake batter into 6 bowls and line up your icing colors. You will need purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, pink. I use mostly Duff brand electric colors and fill in with Wilton yellow and orange. My son always loves to help with this part. Squeeze a few drops in each bowl of batter and stir well. Fondant Baby Quilt

46 days ago by CakeHatteras | 2 comments »

I worked on a small fondant quilt today and I thought I would share. I used this to sit under Winnie the Pooh and Tigger. I thought it would also be cute to sit under or over a baby. If you have any questions, please pm me and I will try to answer them. I’ve added a larger photo of the finished project. Happy Caking!
