 Lesson learnedIt’s not going well his week.. After being told my Christmas cake wasn’t worth the money I have now been let down by someone who booked a cake for next week. I had got all the bits and pieces ready as my father has an operation tomorrow. She now doesn’t ‘need’ the cake! Must start asking for deposits!!  One Year Anniversary!!Once upon a time on Internet, on foggy Tuesday, the CakesDecor baby was born. Today, we all are one year older, one year smarter and our CakesDecor is one year larger – not a baby anymore, but teenager who is growing really fast. I can remember how We were dreaming of having 1000 cakes on here. Now, we have even more members than 1000. They showcased 34 625 amazing cakes and still growing. Isn’t it amazing? CakesDecor Quarterly Awards - Fall 2012 #5: And the Winners Are ...The results are in and it’s time to officially announce the winners of the CakesDecor Quarterly Awards - Fall 2012. There were 104 entries posted in the Angry Birds category, 46 votes were cast during this period. I’m really glad that we beat the number of entries, but little bit disappointed that only 46 people voted. I believe that next time there will be at least the same number of votes as entries. Sunday - GanacheTodays cake started with a 9” madeira, what followed next was nothing short of miraculous. My lovely friend Nylah has been singing the praises of ganache over buttercream for a while now and so I thought I would give it a go.So, 900g of white chocolate and 300ml of boiling cream whipped together off the heat and there it was, the perfect medium for covering a cake. I filled the cake and then spread the remainder over the top and sides and got to work with my palette knife smoothing and ... Printing of TutorialsHi, Michal – we are so blessed to have many talented cake designers willing to share their techniques – so I was wondering if it would be possible to add a PRINT button to the Tutorials page so that we can easily print out these instructions. If you have this feature already – please, tell me where I can find it. Up late decorating...I just finished my goal for tonight on my baby shower birch tree cake…I know most birch tree cakes are for weddings but this client wanted a Camouflage cake and I didn’t want it too look cheesy or for a proper word “Redneck”, so I thought the birch tree would be perfect to keep it classy.
