This week I’ve been starting to put together the cake and characters I’ve been working on over the last few weeks.
When I build a cake from my imagination I have to listen to the story the characters are telling me, and that sets the scene for the finished cake. My Mother always said I had an over active imagination. But I suppose thats how Authors write books sometimes. They have to let the story tell itself and when it’s done they can “picture” the story.

Just finished my first car cake and it was a definite time consumer. I enjoyed making it though, the most challenging part of the cake had to be all the detail work. At first i was scared to carve this cake because ive never carved before and i thought of all the horrible things that could happen if i took to much cake off ! I wanted it to look like a model car so I had to keep that in mind. It took me 3 days to complete which is far too long but for my first one i wanted to go slow and see h...

My friends, I am sharing with you all part 1 of my video tutorial on how I made some of the BAUBLE CAKES shown on the photos above. I’ve made BAUBLE CAKES using RKT, baked half sphere cakes and the “cake pop technique”. In this video, I will be showing you all how to make bauble cakes using the “cake pop technique” which in my opinion is the easiest way of making bauble cakes specially for beginners.

My cakey friends, here’s another tutorial on how I made the fantasy/ruffle flower shown on the above photo. You can use 50/50 gum paste and fondant mixture or plain gum paste or plain fondant to make this. Happy caking :)

I have been asked several times for a tutorial on this, so I have made this video which is a collection of photos I took at the time and is by no means the best way to do one. It is merely a guide if you haven’t made one before and need ideas! I was very new to cake decorating and did not follow any guides or tutorials and was simply working from a photograph of a bike… so… there are many, many flaws. This was my first technical sugarpaste construction f...
