To make it worse certain smells really set it off and unfortunately one of those smells are cakes… haha probably not a great combo for me at the moment… Has anyone else got through this obstacle??? This tutorial is the technique that I came up with that made it easier for me to make sure that I got straight even sides and a completely flat top every time I ganached a cake. The technique I came up with is kind of a mix of the upside down method that everyone knows about and the technique used by Faye Cahill where she uses two boards (one on top and one on bottom) to help ganache her cakes. Bio
I’m a self-taught, stay at home Mum of three Beautiful Girls. Originally from NZ but I have lived most of my life in Australia where it’s nearly always sunny and warm. I started decorating in March 2011 for my youngest daughter, Jasmine’s 1st birthday. I had never baked a cake before then and was instantly bitten by the bug!
I have recently been lucky enough to do a couple of classes with the incredible and generous Michelle Rea of Inspired by Michelle Cake Desi...

I’m not sure why are they called 3D cakes, since all cakes have 3 dimensions, but I really love them. Usually they are artworks and doing them requires lot of artistic skills. Take a look at some of the 3D cakes posted on our website. Enjoy!

I made a few mistakes along the way, including poking some toothpicks through characters heads, failing at making white toffee in the first instance etc. I’m hoping that by sharing my blog on how I made ...

Whoop my first blog entry!! What shall I write about? Shall I bore you with useless information about how I stumbled upon cakey making? Yes, I think I shall :D
I have been surrounded by craftly folk all my life! My Grandma’s, Mum, Auntie Karen and cousins. For as long as I can remember, arts and crafts have been the main constant hobby while growing up. My earliest memories are of me and my cousin making plaster shell pictures, pom poms, quilled cards and just gluing and sticking any...
