Hi and if your reading this or looking at my cakes you will realise I’m not a pro and just starting out. So far I’m loving baking and creating cakes. The only problem I’m having at the moment is too many ideas lol I just want to make everything. I get an idea in my head of how I want it to look then put pencil to is per to design it and figure out what to use. So far it’s been hard everything doesn’t pan out smoothly but I see it as learning as I go along. I have...

As a young cake decorator with a very young career in the industry (less than a year), I was fortunate enough to be trusted to make a wedding cake for 130 guests. At first I was pretty excited that the bride would even consider me for the job; then as the days got closer, I started freaking out badly. I started asking myself what made me think I was able to pull this together, what was I thinking? Then a month months before the big day, the anxiety, and the nightmares started; but I kept tell...

I am finding many uses for the star shape cookie cutters.
Here is a fast and simple way to make a Poinsettia cupcake topper.
Tools you will need plus fondant with either Tylose Powder or gumpaste.
Cut out your 3 stars using 3 different sizes. Use a leaf impression mat to create the leaf look for the flower stem then pinch each end of the star to make it pointy.
Put your stars together, largest on the bottom working your way to the top with the smallest. Using your fondan...

This is my first time posting a tutorial so I will do my best to explain the steps along with the pictures.
I used the Wilton Wreath cookie cutter that comes in their Holiday 40 pc Collection. I used the large size one.
Tools you will need
Roll out your fondant (I added a small amount of Tylose Powder instead of gumpaste to the fondant), place your wreath cookie cutter on it then the circle in the middle to make sure it is centered before cutting. Once you have it placed correc...

I did a video showing how to assemble the large flowers that use a center and extra petals around it. Since I have another one to make this weekend I thought I’d share the link.
This style of cake looks best when the tiers are taller and closer in size to each other, rather than more of a pyramid shape. For example, a 5-7-9-11 will look better than a 5-8-11-14. The taller tiers make it easier to apply the flower petals in a flatter shape and make it look better.
One thing I didn...

Wow I had so much fun with this cake! I got to use Rita. Rita’s airbrush who I asked my page likers to recommend names. Rita was suggested and since I love Harry Potter, the first image that shot into my head when I saw the Name, was Rita Skeeter’s magic pen! So now my trusty new pal is called Rita and I love her!
I was a little scared of using the airbrush but it was actually quite easy! Much easier than the one I tried at CI which I now think has been adapted and is over comp...

Are you thinking of a great idea to welcome a new baby into the world through cake? Well here is a tutorial on how to make a baby rump cake that will have all the guest at the party loving your cake.
http://www.wilton.com/blog/index.php/how-to-make-a-baby-rump-shower-cake/
I started by making crispy rice treats by following the instructions on the box of cereal. I placed the treats on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. I then lined one of the pan halves from the Sports Ball Pan Set w...

(This is a tutorial that I did a few years ago for a chocolate pine cone method. The link will take you to the full tutorial with photos, but you can follow the steps here to do them without clicking through! http://acaketorememberva.blogspot.com/2009/12/chocolate-pinecone-cake-and-how-to.html )
This week I got to do a wedding cake that had sugared pine cones on it. It was based on a design from MS weddings, but the original cake had real pine cones and pine needles, which just made me...
