Up late decorating...

236 days ago by simplycakes | 1 comment »

I just finished my goal for tonight on my baby shower birch tree cake…I know most birch tree cakes are for weddings but this client wanted a Camouflage cake and I didn’t want it too look cheesy or for a proper word “Redneck”, so I thought the birch tree would be perfect to keep it classy. In the morning I need to attach all the pine cones, leaves and pine needles. I must say im already in love with it. Everything was hand painted and love love how it came out for my fi...

Brush Embroidery Sugar Cookies

125 days ago by Bobbie | 1 comment »

_Every year D.F. romantically buys a dozen roses and chooses a card in which he meticulously underlines the words he feels is a representations of his feelings for me. He buys Sydney sweet cards for an daughter and 2 roses as well. This year I thought I would create an edible Valentine’s card for him, and for Sydney (I am sending most of the cookie cards to her & her roommates). While the sugar cookie dough was chilling I began to… Read the whole story »

Kaleidoscope Cake!

480 days ago by TheBakingSheet | 1 comment »

I’ve been asked many times how I made this cake. The cool “kaleidoscope” effect is pretty trippy, right? Are you having a flashback to the groovy era of the 1960’s? It’s a pretty simple technique that is sure to impress. 1) Make a white cake batter…box or from scratch…doesn’t matter. 2) Divide the batter evenly into 6 bowls. 3) Color each of the bowls of batter a different color of the rainbow using gel paste….I used Wilton...

Disney Car 2 cake carving

469 days ago by funfetti | 1 comment »

Hi, everybody, I’m making a two-tier cake for a baby’s first birthday using the Disney Car 2 theme. As a added bonus, I’d like to make a small “smash cake” for the baby. I’ve seen the tutorials for the large car, but if anybody has any tips on making a mini-version – I would appreciate it.

The Luck of The Irish, Crème de Menthe Cupcakes

103 days ago by Bobbie | 1 comment »

DF asked me to bake cupcakes for the women in human resources (to thank them). With St. Patrick’s Day around the corner I thought they should be decorated for the occasion. I was inspired by, of all things, a 21 century insurance commercial. I realize how odd that may sound, but in the little commercial they show this fantasy land with grass, a pound, and flowers; the person who has the 21 century insurance receives a visit from a leprechaun…

Edible Prints #1: Edible Printers

96 days ago by Sweet Treasures (Ann) | 1 comment »

Ok, so I bought an edible printer to do fun things like labels and things that require tiny text. ALthough it too me forever because I have always appreciated crafts and cakes that were made entirely with the hands:) Well, so after 2 weeks of getting it, the prints were printing in odd colors and missing the magenta color entirely. I researched and found out that you need to keep the printer in use at least once a week. My question, is it really worth the investment, not to mention the ...
