So … I know how hard and expensive can be to make or buy moulds. So…. I make my own with leftover of fondant and tylose. It doesn’t last long but if you have a plastic original you can always make it again and again…. ;)
You may ask me how much tylose…well that will depend how quick you will need your mould. ;)
I have a online video now thanks to Learn Cake Decorating online ;)http://www.learncakedecoratingonline.com/#oid=5_1

Tutorial #5: 3D World Cake

How to make a 3D World Cake . I bake my cake on the shape of a ball. Ganache it to join to sides together and to correct imperfection this also will give more strength to your ball. I always open my fondant bigger than the size I need, special for a round shape. and I smooth it with a piece of fondant.
I google search my image “world map”.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b5/GURPS_Reign_of_Steel_world_map.png
I cut my conutries and useit as template to cut my fondant.
I painted my countries with food color and I also airbrush my water to give light and shadow to my planet.
To finish I sprayed Canola Oil just on the water to give shine and I piped icing sugar to create water and Ice.

Tutorial #4: Canon Camera Topper

So for this topper I used styrofoam but you can use the same technique for a real cake with edible image. ;)

I cut my styrofoam with a Hot wire using the template as my guide. https://www.facebook.com/verusca.walker#!/hotwirefoamfactory?fref=ts
I use a sand block to smoothe my styrofoam and cream shortening to stick my fondant.
And them I just cut the images from my template and glue it to the fondant with tylose glue. ;)
It is easy quick and incredible effective.
