My very first "official" wedding cake

I’ve been officially in business a little more than a year and a half and have done 1 wedding cake for a friend, but this was my first “official” order. It’s all buttercream with criss cross fondant ribbons and fondant medallion. Square corners were the death of me, will try to convince all brides in the future for round cakes…he he he! And at the last minute, found the delphinium wilton color which was the perfect match of the color swatch the bride gave me so i was super stoked about that! Thanks for looking!

I was out of town so i did this entire cake (minus the baking, did that ahead of time) all on Saturday. All fondant covered and chocolate cross on top with First Communion prayer. I’m telling you, that girl noticed and critiqued every bump, crack, bubble, whoa nellie! it was all good, she was thrilled!

There is truly nothing original on this cake and i apologize in advance but i took bits and pieces from each… It is the first fully fondant cake i have done in quite some time and covered both in less than an hour with no rips and tears so was very happy with that!

This happened after my cake was picked up by my customer this morning. her kids wanted to “help” unload the car for the party. Ummmm, no. Thankfully, they were able to still eat the cake since it happened still while within the confines and saftey of the box so it was still yummy she said.

The cake was for 3 siblings who have April birthdays. 8”-6”-4” combining the three themes was a challenge but i think it came out nicely!! Minecraft, Princess Belle and RaceCars. All three tiers were midnight chocolate. It was even my first sugar rose! over 450 tiles on the Minecraft tier. ugh.

Added the ruffled sides, which i loved, making it more girly and added little icing hearts punched out of icing sheets and a few bigger fondant hearts scattered across the top. Maybe it’s not up to the the fancy cakes posted but the birthday girl screamed in delight when she saw it and LOVED seeing her face on the cake – -that’s what it’s all about!

Surprised my husband with this ganache cake for his birthday. Followed Three Little Blackbirds tutorial for upside down icing/ganache technique and her ganache recipe. I was happy with this first try. Going to have to do this with buttercream my next cake!
