A little 20th birthday cake for Sammy, who loves fashion, pink and green. Wish I could credit the basic design to someone, but I can’t remember where I once saw it – the idea of doing the ruffles only on the top and as a side flower just stuck in my mind. The wedges are made from sugarpaste/gum trag and painted.

A Christening cake – the inspiration of which came from Sarah at Style me Gorgeous in Sydney. I loved her baby elephant design, and she let me use it with a little alteration (water spray instead of balloon).

My first First Communion cake for two friends. I liked the structure of this one, and loved doing the boys in their little suits.

Made for a swimming party. The entire dolphin was trickier to make than I thought!

For my little sweetie, who turned 7 last week. She loves dancing, and Katy Perry is one of her favourite singers, so it had to be a Candyland disco party. This cake was a lot of fun to make – except that the huge lollipops really didn’t want to stay put! I wonder how many calories are in this cake?!

For a dad, who loves to cook. This is a vanilla sponge. The figure is all hand-modeled. The cute little cooking accessories came from my local cake shop.

For Aiden’s Egyptian-themed birthday party. What a great theme! This was a lot of fun to do. Carved chocolate cake, covered with sugarpaste bandages and a sarcophagus made of sugarpaste mixed with mmf and gum trag to keep its shape, then decorated with writing icing. Brown sugar sand to finish off!

The brief for this cake was something with rainbows and butterflies, so it sort of evolved into butterflies on a stump! ;)

For one of my very good friends. Admittedly, I didn’t have a lot of time to do this one, so I used some great gingham wired butterflies that I found in a florist shop and some sugar daisies that I had in the cupboard! Chocolate fudge cake underneath!

This is Matti – Caitlin’s pony. Caitlin wanted her head made of cake. This was my first horse head cake, so i had a look at a lot of images on the web first. Actually it wasn’t too hard to do, but getting the proportions right was harder than I thought. Need to work on that for next time!

These were for a wilderness themed birthday party. My favourite is probably the toasted marshmallows over the campfire, but I also like the little boots. :) Everything modeled free-hand, with the exception of the plastic trees of course!

A tiara, hand-modeled from mmf, then brushed with edible silver lustre dust. Pillow is chocolate sponge, covered with chocolate ganache and sugarpaste.

Here’s another LV bag – this time the pattern was ‘stamped’ on, rather than painted. A bit easier, but by no means perfect! Still find it difficult to get the proportions right without the real thing to look at, just an image. Maybe if I make enough of them, I can get a real one! ;)
