I called it Royal Kitty for two obvious reasons but another reason why I called it “Royal” is because I made this cake using two of ROYAL BAKERY’s awesome tutorials. I changed a few things to make it my own but the design is all from Royal Bakery’s tutorials. I added a little handpainted owl, a plaque (bought from Not Just Cakes by Annie) and few other little details. My friend’s daugther was so happy with her cake.

I was excited to make this cake because when I did some research I could not find a cake from that movie anywhere online. I believe I am the first one to have made a cake from that movie and post it online!
The shirt is a chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream covered in fondant. The cricket bat and the zombie fingers are all handmade and edible. The figurine is not edible and was a lucky find at a local comic/toy store.
My apologies for the photo quality being so poor!

Customer wanted a small cake for her mother-in-law to cut and some cupcakes to share. The lovely lady loved the color lilac and she also loved gardening. I did not have enough time to make a “gardening” cake so this is what I came up with. Butter pecan cake with vanilla buttercream with handmade fondant decorations. 36 cupcakes (chocolate/red velvet and butter pecan all with vanilla buttercream). The topper for the cake was suppose to be a big silver 50 made of fondant but when I attempted to put it on the cake it broke. I had to come up with something quick so I made the medallion. I am pleased with it as I think it matches the theme of the cake pretty well.

I have been seeing all these beautiful cakes online and decided to give it a try. I decided to practice on a 9 inch cake. I also attempted to do a chocolate out of modeling chocolate. Found a recipe online and it worked very well. Unfortunately I didn’t store my modeling chocolate very well so all I was able to do was one rose out of it! The cake is orange creamsicle. Layers of orange and vanilla cake filled with vanilla buttercream iced with fresh orange zest and citrus juice buttercream. It was quite good. Every time I practice I bring the cake to the office for my co-workers to enjoy and they really did like this one. I believe I will be making another cake with this technique as I love the simplicity and how elegant it looks.
