Til Death Do Us Part Wedding Cake

This was my first ever wedding cake. I am ok with the way it turned out, but not happy about rushing myself. It was very hot outside when I delivered it and the fondant began to get large bubbles. I blame it on the heat, but I know if I had not rushed and done it properly that would not have happened. The result is that you can see a rather large wavy line across the middle tier, and one in the upper right corner of the top tier on the side.

Topper is not hand made, but I love it. Cake is red velvet covered in red MM fondant and ganache drizzle. Strawberries are hand dipped.

Nemo, Sponge Bob Storybook cake

I attempted to copy a cake made by another decorator from cakecentral. She did such a wonderful job, mine was certainly not half as good as hers, but the customer was happy.

My customer wanted Sponge Bob instead of the Lion King as her son really likes that charachter. My attempt at Nemo was not as successful as I had hoped, looks more like his dad… but still looks like a scene from Finding Nemo. Also my first attempt at a carved cake. Learned I need to get just a little more curve for a book. Live and learn.

Cake is marble with chocolate butter cream filling. Mm fondant. All charachters are hand made with fondant or gumpaste.

Hello Kitty cake made for a friends granddaughter on her first birthday. Completely edible, hand made. Fondant is MM fondant.

She wanted 2 different types of cake, chocolate and white, but did not want marbled or different flavors for each layer. I ended up making the 2 cakes, cut them in half, layered each cake with the same half and placing them side by side to get the ‘full’ cake.

Made for my friends son on his 10th birthday. He loves Mario Brothers and his favorite charachter is King Boo. Everything on the cake is hand made. Cake is chocolate with chocolate buttercream. Fondant is from scratch with a light citrus flavor.

Sadly the battery in my camera was dead so I could not get pics before I delivered the cake. All pictures were taken by my friend at the party. She forgot to take pics at first, so you can see the holes from the candles. :(
