Sock Monkey Cake

This was a 3 tier (if you count the hat on top it’s actually 4 tiers) topsy turvey birthday cake with a fabric textured sock monkey theme for an adorable 5 year old. The very top was the hat which was vanilla, then red velvet, chocolate, and the bottom was vanilla, all covered in fondant, with fondant and gumpaste accents. The sock monkey, and the pom-pom on the top of the hat were RKT covered in fondant. The knitting needles and socks hanging off the cake and on the base were a fondant/gumpaste mix. The red in the argyle print was hand piped RI. This cake was a lot of work, but one of my favorites, I loved making it! TFL!

Zombie Birthday Bash

This cake was for a 39 1/2 birthday (the wife was determined to surprise her husband, after he told her there was no way she would be able to throw him a 40th b-day party with out him finding out…never dare a determined woman, hence the 39 1/2 lol). It was a ‘night of the living dead’ inspired cake, two half sheet cakes, stacked and carved to look like a slight hill, one side was chocolate, the other vanilla, both covered with fondant. The tree was RKT covered in chocolate fondant, the large tombstones were also RKT covered in fondant, the ‘zombies’ and smaller tombstones were gumpaste, each tombstone had a saying or phrase from his past. This was a VERY large cake with A LOT of detail, but I had fun making it! Oh and the husband was COMPLETELY surprised and loved the cake! TFL!
