Felt like an elf in the “Elves and the shoemaker” while making those tiny ballet slippers and ribbons!

Novelty Cake.

This was designed for a girl who loves her MAC make-up, for her sweet 16th birthday party.

I took really poor photos that day. and if the customer didnt ask if i took photos already, I would have forgotten! lol. i was up all night making it so was very tired.

The cake is based on a travel make-up case, and the bottom is a pull-out drawer with mini cupcakes as “eyeshadow pots”. I added some shimmer on those which really made a difference. The brushes,lipsticks are made from sugarpaste. The top 2 eyeshadows are also mini cupcakes.

I painted the pink leopard spot for the cake base. looking back I should have added more spots for better effect. oh well next time :)

Since it’s James Bond season now I thought I would share this cake I made last year.

I love the suave cool look of Daniel Craig as pictured and that inspired the top cake design. The edible film strip features the birthday guy’s wife and kids ( as the love of his life) and then you have the classic Aston Martin DB5 and Vanquish! Interestingly, his name is 3 characters long so I made him his own licence plate. Lastly, the theme was Casino Royale (for the party) and the cake board is actually a poker chip.

How do you design a cake meant for a guy and two ladies?? This cake was done early this year.

The ladies are actually twin sisters; very trendy ladies in their late 50s, and the guy is one of the ladies’ husband. He is a keen cyclist who participated in many professional cycling tournaments before. They are all very close and I wanted the cake to focus on them. I kept the cake colour a pale green so that it’s fairly neutral.

Customer requested for a teddy bear picnic cake , with figures made after her son’s favourite toys. She sent me some pictures and I really liked how they turned out.

Being a mum of 2 small boys, Star Wars is definitely something I can do!

The birthday girl was pretty specific about what she wanted – Aurora sleeping with a rose in her hand, whilst the prince leans over for that magical kiss xx oh yes, and it has to be a four-poster bed.

There were crown cupcakes with the names of each child written on, and I finally got to use my lovely pink castle cupcake stand!

These are mini dolls around 12cm tall from a Disney princess set.

The birthday girl loves the movie “Barbie-A Mermaid’s Tale” and wanted a pretty doll cake, but nothing too big as it’s only for a small family celebration. The girl is also brunette- hence why I chose “Belle” for the main mermaid.

It’s a shame how the picture doesn’t show the lovely sparkly and glittery shimmers on all the mermaids’ tails.

The birthday boy was very specific in what animals he wanted! So along came an elephant and giraffe too!

A lovely lady wanted a special cake for her 40th birthday but styled like a wedding cake that she wished she had on her wedding. She wanted a tiered cake with cascading flowers in a bright palette of reds and yellows. I usually work with pastel colours so it was a challenge to come up with something bright and yet classy and mature. And she didn’t want roses either! I finally decided on the ever classic orchid and elegant calla lilies in red, yellow and burnt orange. She loved it x
