White on white. I know it looks a little ivory, however it’s white :-).

This cake was done for a wedding this past weekend. I went for a stellar look since the bride had a timeless color scheme of red, black & white. The red sugar roses added the extra zing to the design (the “bling” didn’t hurt either). The cake flavors inside matched the color scheme and they were, red velvet w/cream cheese buttercream, vanilla w/vanilla buttercream, and chocolate w/Amaretto mocha buttercream. I was very happy the bride trusted me enough to let me have free reign on the cake design :-). I hand painted every other tier pearl white. Fondant swags and draping complete the look. I think I will call this one “Hollywood Glam”!

Finally getting around to posting my entry for last week’s cake competition during the Delaware Capital Region Bridal Showcase. It took first place, I was soooo happy :-)! For all my cakers if you are familiar with Emma Jayne Cake Design, you can tell I was thoroughly influenced by her work. I sculpted the heart cake on top from a 6 inch square, (that inspiration came from the infamous Colette Peters). I went for a sculpted tapered design to give it a whimsical feel, however kept the overall color scheme white for a wedding feel (the photo looks ivory, however it was white). Contest rules required that the design be all cake (no Styrofoam, or inedible materials allowed). Sugar roses, pearlized sanding sugar, dragees, and sugar pearls complete the look for this three tiered creation. Thanks for looking. By the way…....I’m still smiling :-)!!!!!!!

I love the color combination of black and white cakes. It’s so timeless :).
