I was so excited to receive this order. The tiny little worm from the 1980’s cult film, Labyrinth, was a friendly little chap and proved to be huge fun to make. The body was carved from a St Clement’s sponge cake and the head was modelled from RKT . It was completely edible except for the blue hair which was cut from a wig and inserted into posy picks.

This was a challenging request for a model of the recipient’s sailing boat on a cake. The cake is eight inches so the scale was tricky.

I had great fun making this cake, especially the little pug who I named Frank. This was a six inch square, triple layer chocolate fudge cake. Filled and covered with milk chocolate ganache. The bow was made with Satin Ice gumpaste.

This cheeseboard cake was made for my husband’s 40th birthday. He is a huge cheese fan! The “board” was a sponge slab cake with currants – my husband’s favourite cake. The cheeses were made from chunks of chocolate brownie which gave them a certain squidge factor!

We placed the cake on the buffet table amongst all the other food and managed to fool a lot of our guests! Some were heard to be wondering where the cake was and why didn’t I have it out on display, whilst others were hunting for the cheese knives!

Great fun.

This is an eight inch rich fruit cake with an oversized Porsche topper. The topper was made from RKT.

I was asked to create a model of my customer’s mother as a surprise for her 60th birthday. I was sent lots of photograghs and this is what I came up with! The wheelchair frame is made from very thin metal tubing and the wheel spokes are made from florist wire. Everything else is gum paste. The topper is eight inches tall and mounted on a seven inch cake drum.

This is my gorgeous daughter Lily’s 8th birthday cake. She celebrated her special day with a sleepover/slumber party. This is a 12”x 9” vanilla sponge cake filled with vanilla buttercream. I made charicatures of Lily and her friends – much to their amusement!

A simple Cinderella themed cake for a little girl’s fourth birthday. Eight inch vanilla sponge cake filled with strawberry jam and vanilla buttercream. Plastic Cinderella figure as a keepsake for the birthday girl.

A 12” chocolate fudge cake for the 40th birthday of a cricket fan.

A special two tier vanilla sponge cake for my gorgeous little niece’s 2nd birthday. x

This four tier cake was designed by the bride, with just a couple of tiny tweaks by me. The bottom two tiers were traditional rich fruit cakes whilst the top two tiers were yummy chocolate fudge cake coverd and filled with milk chocolate ganache. Each tier was four inches deep before covering. The tiers were 10, 9, 8, and 7 inches.

This bride wanted a three tier wedding cake with red butterflies so this is what I created for her and her groom. The bottom two tiers were vanilla sponge cake and the top tier was a traditional rich fruit cake. The butterflies were made from Satin Ice gumpaste and airbrushed red. I am thrilled with the sharp edges I managed to achieve on this cake.

My customer wanted a unique and personal cake for her son’s 30th birthday. So we ended up with her son in his football kit and the family dog in goal. Instead of the traditional football goal I recreated the security barriers that her son’s company manufactures and installs. The company logo was handpainted with food colours. Naturally the dog is looking rather dejected as he’s loosing 30-nil!

Scrummy chocolate fudge cake filled and coated with milk chocolate ganache and topped with a cute teddy face. The sides were decorated with bunting and buttons in cute pastel colours. I loved creating this design.

Nine 4” rich fruit cakes with a variety of decorations. The penguins and snowmen were inspired by the work of Ann Pickard. I attended her lovely demo at Cake International and love the appeal of her simple figures.
