And the Grammy Winner Is.....

Grammy cake made for a birthday for someone that was nominated, but didn’t win. Guess if you can’t have the real thing then you can at least eat this one! This was an interesting one to figure out. Things were thrown across the room many times while working on it, along with me quitting the cake business on numerous occasions. Oh the joys of cake decorating, lol :)

Peacock Feather Wedding Cake with alternating layers of strawberry and yellow cake and buttercream icing! All feathers are edible and handmade. This is not my design. Not sure whose it is. The bride brought me a picture of this. I changed the borders and added some additional colors to match the bridesmaid dresses.

Tree Stump

This tree stump is 4 layers of yellow cake with chocolate swirls inside to simulate tree rings and then covered in fondant. Shotgun shells and knife are gumpaste. This was one of the more fun cakes to make. It came together so easy. Note to self: make sure to trim cake board that’s between layers so it doesn’t stick out further than the cake itself.

Made for my friend’s son. First time using RKT. I’m glad I covered the gup (submarine) with 2 layers of fondant. Made the finish much smoother, although the gup was still heavier than I expected. I guess not as heavy as if I had made it out of gumpaste.
