every now and again you get asked to do something that you get really excited about doing. This was one of those cakes. As nerve racking as it was to replicate Australian native birds I was really keen to have a go. This is a cake for a avid bird watcher. Not only was it a fun cake to do, but also very informative – I have learned heaps about these little feathered friends. Hand sculpted pink robin, purple crowned fairy wren and gouldian finch as well as baby chicks in a nest!

This is a communion cake I made. Bottom tier is choc mud covered in choc ganache, top double tier is caramel mud with caramel & choc ganache. Figurine made out of fondant. The figurine was also a replica of the little girl, instructions were to replicate the dress, the hair in a bun and pearl earrings. It was fun to make. Thanks for looking.
