I have always loved baking. Those old Women's Weekly cookbooks were my first inspiration. I have fond memories of helping my Aunty make my cousins rubber ducky birthday cake complete with two chips for a beak.
For my first daughter's 2nd birthday I tried my hand at a mermaid cake covered in rolled fondant by following directions from a book. I befriended a neighbour who worked at Planet Cake and she really opened my eyes to the possibilities of sugar art and cake decorating at that level.
With my small kitchen I'm limited in the cakes I can create. But I hope to step up my spoon creations on my site when I get my dream kitchen.
