I was looking to design a cake using blue and orange. Hope you like the colour contrast. I never overly liked orange until the last few years, but I now find it such a friendly, cheerful colour. And blue is one of my favourite colours :)

Here’s a cake I made for one of my friend’s daughters a couple of years ago when she turned 5. She was very specific about what she wanted, and as you can see loves bunny rabbits :)

The customer and her family were really happy with it. And of course, that makes me very happy :)

This is a beanie bobble hat I made for my OH’s brother, for his birthday.
The ‘knitting’ took about 3 hours, and then the bobble probably took me another couple of hours.
I really enjoyed the finished effect of this cake, and the recipient was really pleased with it (we had given him a beanie hat for one of his Christmas presents) :)

One of my regular customers asked me to make her mother and father a Golden Wedding Anniversary cake. I went through my design idea with her and she was happy to go with it. When I delivered the cake, her mother was there also, and they were delighted with the cake. The word my customer used was ‘classy’.
The flower spray consists of an open cream and gold peony, ruffled cream and gold peonies, cream and gold rosebuds, and gold rose leaves.
To get more of an idea of the colours (as the end photos were perhaps a bit over-exposed in the daylight) I have also included a photo of the work when I finished it in the craft room the evening before…

This was my first wedding cake design. Topped with sugar gerberas, rosebuds, and hypericon berries.

This cake design was a request from someone who keeps chickens. She even gave me the design details right down to how each chicken should look :)

This was my first attempt at sugar Gerberas. And each one sits in a chocolate cake plant pot.
I made it for my OH’s mother’s birthday, and recently made this same design for another customer.

This was a 50th birthday cake made for an acquaintance’s girlfriend.
He didn’t know what cake design he wanted for her. All he knew was that he wanted it to be pretty.
I ran through the idea I had I mind, and he went with it. It’s always great having such an open brief :)
He loved it, she loved it, and that made me happy!

Carved shoe cake made for the partner of one of the ladies who works at www.hitched.co.uk.
It was my first attempt at a cake carved into a shoe, but not my first attempt at carving a cake.
I know some cake decorators frown at other cake decorators who take orders for things they’ve never tried before, but I find (touch wood!), that things go okay, as long as I plan carefully, and think through the design/decorating process thoroughly.
With each cake, I learn something new, and this was no exception :)

This was made for my OH’s sister’s birthday. She loves broderie anglaise and peonies are her favourite flowers. So I thought I’d combine the two. It was my first attempt at broderie anglaise. It’s a bit of a fiddly technique, but one I’m sure I’ll get used to.
