This was a second cake for a two part baby shower. The first cake was for a female only tea party shower and this cake is for the co-ed shower later in the day.

I have been wanting do a ruffled cake for sometime and after watching the Maggie Austin Fondant Frills course on Craftsy, I decided to go all out for my birthday cake. Pink fondant frills edged in antique gold luster dust with white gum paste rose edged in more luster dust.

First cake in quite a while. 60th birthday cake for a family member who loves hockey and go-karting. First time trying to model a vehicle which was a interesting and new challenge. Side pieces handcut from fondant.

Blue and purple inspired wedding cake created for and featured in the August 2012 issue of Cake Central Magazine. The gum paste flowers consisted of hydrangea, roses, sweet peas, berries, filler flowers, and leaves. Super thrilled as this was my first cake in a magazine.

Cake for my friend’s daughters 2nd birthday. Figures and decorations all modeled from sugar. I was nervous about making the figures because I haven’t done much modeling, so I was absolutely thrilled when the birthday girl identified the characters right away. Pretty much the best feedback you could ask for on a cake. =)

Gardening themed cake for an 80th birthday. Flowers and cake board decorations all sugar and handmade by me. These were my first attempts at sugar peonies. Can’t wait to make more of them! My favorite part of the cake you can’t see, but you could pick up the seed packets and shake them to hear the seeds inside.

Just playing around with gum paste. My first attempt at gum paste black-eyed susans. I made them for a cake and then ended up not using them as they weren’t quite right for the cake.

My entry into my very first cake show this past weekend. All flowers and leaves are gum paste. I was thrilled and shocked to win 1st in my category, people’s choice and best of show.
