Another interesting cake to make, this time for an 87th birthday for a man who loves his garden. I love I’m still mowing my lawn when I’m 87!!

Bridge Cake

This was my husband birthday cake, I didn’t make him one last year so I had to try extra hard this year :) He works for a company who inspects railway bridges and whenever he is out on site he usually ends up in the river or scaling the side of the bridge.

He was over the moon with it and so were his bridge obsessed work mates.

I adored making this cake despite having lots of difficulties with Sir Topham Hatt. The bottom tier is a vanilla madeira with a homemade strawberry jam buttercream filling and the top is lemon with a lemon curd buttercream filling.

This Tiffany cake caused me lots of tears but I’m so pleased with the end result. Everything is edible including the bracelet that although was time-consuming was very easy to make.

There comes a time in every bakers life when they make a cake they are so porid of…this is my time :) I replicated a section of my Mother-in-Laws kitchen for her birthday today as she is always cooking us up lovely meals when we visit.
I hand painted the floor using a sponging method and splatter painted the kitchen sides – I’ve had loads of fun making this cake!

I had free reign on this one and as I am currently improving my skills in ganaching and stacking I jumped at the chance of making a colourful yet pretty cake.

I made this topper complete with Rice Krispie Armchair as a removeable option for a 10” madeira cake. It sits on an 8” board and weighs about 1.5kg.

This was the biggest challenge for me as I’m not typically a ‘big cake’ maker and this was seriously huge, sat on an 18” board and weighing 10kg.

Made for the owner of a local haulage company the pressure was really on to get the detail right, I also wanted to give the option for some part of it to be kept as a keepsake so I made the cab part entirely from Rice Krispies.

I really loved/hated this cake – it caused a lot of worry and stress but also gave me a huge amount of experience :)

I still consider myself a ‘newbie’ at modelling but I was really pleased with how this GCC turned out with Tinkerbell perched on top.

For my nieces 20th birthday I wanted to replica her Furby….I found that the Yellow Furby’s had a rather unusual fur but I managed to pull it off with a few different piping tips.

I was so inspired after seeing Lesley from the Royal Bakery’s brilliant Father Christmas cake that I wanted to recreate him in a Giant Cupcake. It meant losing a lot of the gorgeous detail to fit but overall I’m happy with my Jolly Santa :)

I recently made this Ariel and Flounder Giant Cupcake, I’m still learning the art of modelling so I made it my way instead of a replicate of the ‘real’ characters. The customer was overjoyed with the unique style of their bespoke cake.

Two children, two themes but only one Giant Cupcake! Yes it can be done :)

This is my first tiered cake which I created for my twin brothers and nephew, there is a 27 year gap in ages and so it was difficult coming up with a design that they all could appreciate. I decided on toys that are really they all would recognise and a bright colourful theme, also my 2 year old nephew LOVES trains so I added in the track as an extra detail – I think it finishes off the cake really well.

The top tier is a dummy cake and the bottom is a 9” madeira with zingy lemon curd frosting.

There is so many Father Christmas, penguin, snow scene, etc, etc cakes around (I’ve made my fair share) that I wanted to go back to the beginning and do cupcakes with a traditional theme – Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, Shephard, Wise Man and Angel :)

When a customer asked for a Hippo in a bathtub cake I really struggled to think of how to create it but inspiration hit and I absolutely love the end product!

This is the cake I’ve made for my sons teacher who is finishing for maternity holiday tomorrow. I used half of a Wilton soccer ball tin and 2 cakes from the Wilton mini ball pan then covered it first in pink fondant then finished off with a yellow fondant dress. The cherry symbolises the class name – Cherry Tree :)

This is my contribution to my son’s Christmas Fair. I had great fun designing the cake, making the Rice Krispie house and making the tiny fish and wreath – it was a challenge but worth the effort :)

A super cute pony collection for a 13th birthday

The full collection consisted of 48 cupcakes all in pink and gold. the ballet shoe cupcake toppers had the names of famous ballets embossed onto the disk.
