Owl cake made using a tutorial by Royal Bakery. It’s a vanilla sponge with jam & buttercream filling. I didn’t have a dolly Varden pan so made in a Pyrex bowl & carved it into a better shape. Unfortunately it’s not tall enough to cut out to make the ears so I made them out of RKT. The birthday girl loves anything owl related so I think she’ll like it.

Giant cupcake for my sister’s birthday. Vanilla sponge with jam & vanilla buttercream set in a white chocolate ‘shell’. My second GCC but first attempt with a chocolate cupcake ‘case’ . I took the photo before I added sparkle to the cake board.

I made this using a silicone mould (another first for me). It was for a young supporter of our local football club who was the mascot tonight, on his birthday. It was vanilla sponge with raspberry jam & vanilla buttercream filling. The base was covered in fondant & the top was piped butter cream .

I made this cake for my golf mad husband using the fantastic tutorial by Lesley of the Royal Bakery. As soon as I’d downloaded her tutorial he said it was the cake he wanted this year. It’s not on the same league as Lesley’s but he and our friends were suitably impressed. A big thank you to Lesley whose work inspires me to try new things.

I iced this cake for a friend, who wanted it fir a ‘guess the weight if the cake’ stall at their Christmas fair. I had seen the design on one of my Internet cake browsing sessions & fell in love with it as its so cute. My friend wanted me to make a cake for her son’s 30th birthday. His job is making parts for London busses so she wanted to include this, he runs in London , enjoys playing golf , watching football & loves music. She thought of silhouettes so I came up with this idea. Evidently he loved it. :-) Its chocolate fudge cake with chocolate buttercream filling & fondant covered. All edible except the little golfer.

This is my interpretation of the original design by the brilliant Shereen’s cakes & bakes. It’s a vanilla madeira sponge cake with jam & buttercream filling. The three top towers are madeira crumb coated in buttercream with the two side towers being chocolate mud cake. I decided to use buttercream, coloured with sugarpaste colouring, & piped onto the cake using the hair/grass nozzle.

As soon as we bought our dance mad granddaughter Pineapple high top trainers I knew what cake I was going to make her. This was my first ever trainer cake & another time I would carve the toe area a little lower & do the laces area a bit differently. However it was near enough for her & me to be thrilled with the end result. I loved making this cake..

Very quickly made for a friend’s birthday yesterday. Vanilla Victoria Sponge cake filled with vanilla butter cream & jam. I was inspired to make this cake from various similar golf cakes on the internet.

Made this cake for a friend’s birthday. Hand carved from a rich chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream icing. Neck made from moulded RKT. It was so hot the day I made it the butter cream kept melting & the fondant was a nightmare! Everything is edible except the lable (made & printed at home courtesy of Beer Labelizer)

I made this cake for a friend’s 60th birthday. He is a keen Rioja drinker. :) Vanilla madeira sponge with raspberry jame & vanilla butter cream filling.

I made these cakes to celebrate my aunt’s & uncle’s Diamond Wedding anniversary. I was worried it wouldn’t be big enough for the family party so made cupcakes as well.
The orchids are real (home grown by me) so weren’t edible nor were the ‘diamonds’ but they were very careful when cutting, etc.

Made for a friend’s 60th. She loves chocolate so this was an ideal cake. I was inspired by a design I’d seen on the internet.

Finally got to make a ‘girlie’cake for Katy’s 5th birthday. The doll’s body, legs & arms were covered in cling film first & , like another poster on here, I put the clothes in a little gift bag so she had those as a gift too

My granddaughter is growing up fast & now into make up so I thought this was appropriate. She loved it.

Made for a friend’s 40th. She wanted a vanilla victoria sponge cake with jam & butter cream filling. The rest was left to me.
