303 days ago by jchuck | 8 comments »

I have always wanted to make chocolate mmf. I had a good recipe for basic mmf, so I knew I just had to play with it to get what I wanted. I purused the internet looking. I took what I liked best, used my basic recipe and tweaked it. Came up with a winner. It is positively yummy. INGREDIENTS: 1 16 oz bag mini marshmallows 2 tblsp chocolate syrup…. like Hershey’s, or whatever brand you like 2 tblsp corn syrup…. dark or light, doesn’t matter 1-2 tblsp flavor...

Bodice Tutorial

162 days ago by Callicious Cakes | 34 comments »

I have had some interest in “how to” on this cake, so here is a tutorial to help along the way. Carved and ganache chocolate cake (apologies I do not have photos of the smoothing process) I then covered it with flesh coloured fondant. Then I covered with blue fondant that I previously had cut a pattern and did the same for the burgundy coloured fondant too. To save time, I used a floral patchwork cutter to indent a pattern so I have an outline to follow fo...

How to dry a gumpaste tiara

376 days ago by funfetti | 8 comments »

This is a record-short tutorial, but I thought I’d share it with you. Drying out gumpaste tiaras can be tricky since you want a concave shape. So, I found a very easy way. Here’s how: Materials: drying rack; styrofoam glass Cut two slits on the styrofoam glass and insert it onto the drying rack – it fits nice and snuggly. Then place your gumpaste tiara on top of the glass and let it dry. It will hold a beautiful shape and the glass won’t move at all. This c...

How to make a Fondant Ruffle Flower Topper

230 days ago by DeliciaDesigns | 9 comments »

In this tutorial I want to show you how to make a fondant ruffle flower. Ruffle flower accessories are chic and fashionable and can even be made out of fondant. They are a unique and clever way to accessorize a cupcake! You will need a circle cutter. I used a 2 inch round cutter to cut out 5 circles. Roll out your fondant so that it is thin. Working with one circle at a time, fold it in half but make sure it is dusted with cornstarch and that the edges are not sticking ...
