Mermaid cake for a little girl’s birthday.

My first attempt at the fondant ruffles – far from perfect but I was pleased with the overall result.

My first attempt at a suitcase wedding cake and I quite enjoyed it I have to say!

The colours (red, yellow and black) are to represent the rugby team that the groom supports. The cake was to also include bride, groom and their dog and also a little plastic silver shoe which was from the bride’s mum wanted included as it was off her own wedding cake. Thank you to SarahBeth3 for the idea of how to incorporate it!

All cake, except his arms and tail which are just icing. This wee guy had to travel nearly 500 miles to little Sam who was celebrating her 1st birthday.

For a 7th birthday party – apparently Monster High is all the rage with this age group at the moment. I had to do a bit of research to catch up with the trend!

The cake is based on the character Lagoona Blue and the fish is her pet, Neptuna.

I was asked to make these to sit on top of a wedding cake (actually a cupcake tower with a small 6” cake at the top). My personal preference was the white pair, but the couple asked for them to be “natural and brown tones”. I’m interested to hear your thoughts and to see how this is going to look as a complete picture (I haven’t been told what the cupcakes or cake are like)...

Wedding anniversary cake for a couple who have been married 50 years – a very good effort!

I can’t remember where/who the inspiration for the birds came from (and a search of likely places to find the appropriate person to credit has failed me) – if anyone knows who I should be crediting here please let me know!

Likewise with the term “Tweethearts” that I have adopted – I read it recently and thought it was too cute, but can’t remember who I ‘borrowed’ this term from.

A cake of many firsts – first 4-tiered cake; first time making molding chocolate; first time making chocolate roses; first time making chocolate cigarellos;first cake-all-nighter for 2012; and first time I had to call Mum in an emergency to get her to come and help so I could get it finished in time!

Baptism cake for a wee baby boy. Cake is a from a few years ago (obviously), but still thought I would share.

Tinkerbell with her house. This cake is actually from a couple of years ago – would love to try it again know that I know a bit more.

This cake was for my cousin’s wedding. The calla lilies are sugar. I loved the simplicity of this.

3 tier butterfly wedding cake – based on Debbie Brown’s butterfly cake.

I made this cake for my niece’s 2nd birthday. There are two of each animal – all handmade from fondant. The barn house and the hay bales were cake. Everything on the board was edible. Had so much fun making this!

Country & western cake for a 60th birthday. Was all carrot cake.

Emma & Dan’s engagment cake.

Carousel cake for Piper’s (my niece) first birthday. Everything totally edible except the cake board, ribbon around the board and ribbon around the flag at the top. Was determined not to use non-edible supports and was very pleased with the result.

Two fruit cakes – one made into a tyre, the other into a wheel rim. Handmade figurines of the bride and groom, plus their cat and dog. One of the more unusual wedding cakes I’ve made, but a lot of fun!
