Sweet pea cake for Joan who is 80 today. I found making this cake very therapeutic. This was my first time painting directly onto a cake and it was a little scary but now that I’ve done it, hopefully the next time will be less nerve wracking.

Marilyn Monroe cake for Rachel. A Marilyn figure was requested and the rest of the design was left up to me. It’s very hard to make a sugarpaste figure when you’ve such a beautiful subject to try to replicate. I asked my son what he thought when I had finished. “That’s a pretty good Lady Gaga” he replied!

This was a very special cake I made for my wonderful mother for the 29th Feb earlier this year. She’s a leap year baby so officially this was for her 18th birthday. I really wanted to make her a pretty cake – I don’t often get the opportunity – and I also wanted to try out the billowing effect for the sides of the cake.

Booby bird for my good friend’s gorgeous son Arthur. Why? Just because he gets such a giggle with names of birds that sound rude!

Birthday cake for my lovely caker friend Sandra. I was very flattered when Sandra asked me to make her cake for this very special birthday. Sandra left the theme up to me but told me she loves baking (of course), knitting, tea and gardening. Came up with this two themed cake topper. It’s huge! 12 inches, my biggest topper to date. Kitchen theme to the front of the cake and garden to the back of the cake.

Birthday cake for my very lovely friend Niamh whose husband threw her a surprise party. Niamh is full of fun and personality so the little figure for this cake needed to reflect that.

A cake for two sisters who had a joint birthday celebration. They requested an edible designer shoe and diamond rings for the top of the cake.
