I made the very same cake in pink, gold and black a little while ago and love how it works just as well in this colour scheme x

I have had this display cake sitting on my sideboard since January and haven’t been allowed to show it off until now because it was designed exclusively for a local magazine called Pure Weddings for a spread where they are featuring hot trends for 2013. My key words to design the cake around were “mint green” and “birds” and i just loved the whole process!

I used the Royal Bakery tutorial and then improvised with the tools and time that I had, it was nearly the cake that “wasn’t”!!! I had to incorporate the birthday girl’s favourite colour of cherry red hence the very bright roof tiles!

Three tier cake to match the couples colour scheme. The bottom tier was a 10 inch fruit so it weighed a tonne!

I know this has been seen time and time before but I was so pleased to be given the opportunity to make a hand painted cake! The customer who ordered this cake pretty much designed it himself for his lucky girlfriend as a surprise!

The customer asked for a gardening themed cake and this is what I gave them! A little experimental for me as I don’t often do novelty/shaped cakes!

The design is based on a cake that I made on a Cotton & Crumbs course, the bride’s flowers were teal gerberas so I made the gerberas using florists paste to match, the first time I’ve made gerberas and I was pleased with the result and love how they stand out against the white.

I used Raewyn’s tutorial to create the leopard print, thank you Raewyn! The sugar bows are my second attempt at making bows, really pleased with how the whole cake turned out.

The customer wanted no fondant and a rustic, vintage finish to this 40th birthday cake, other than that I had free reign.

Just a quick little idea that I had today that would be perfect for Valentine’s or even for a wedding, the esexutions isn’t perfect as I had less than five minutes to do them! They are going to be devoured tonight by my husband and I!

I wanted a really delicate paper thin flower for this cake so have come up with this hybrid ruffle/rose/peony kind of concoction! The bride also wanted pink lace on a white background…my first wedding cake of 2013! The bottom tier is vanilla and raspberry, the top tier is carrot, pecan and orange.

This was a tongue in cheel kind of cake referencing old 1970s decor, it was for a gentleman who liked shooting! The ducks are hand cut and modelled from gum paste then hand painted, my first time painting on anything other than a canvas or a wall!

The customer asked for buzz and woody bursting out of a cake, I’ve taken a llots of inspiration from some fabulous cake makers, namely Donna Makes Cakes and the Little Cherry Cake Company : )
