The topper was handmade from sugar.

The topper was provided by the client. Hand painted with edible inks.

I gave him an overbite, the top and bottom teeth did not touch the cake (see alternate photo). ~ details were sculpted sugar. This was made for a huge Harry Potter fan.

I tried not to make him too scary, but still have him look somewhat ferocious. He was all cake underneath the fondant. I hand painted him afterward with edible powders and pigments.

All decorations were handmade from fondant.

The purple ribbon on the cake board was a “nod” to the hat society she belongs to.

I sculpted a replica of the groom’s motorcycle (with couple). The cake told the couple’s personal story.

The green “burlap” band was handmade from sugar. I tore the edges for a realistic look. The flowers were also made from sugar. The raffia was well washed before being applied to the cake (not a fan of inedible decorations). Each tier was a different flavor. TOP: caramel apple, MIDDLE: Maine Blueberry Pancake, BOTTOM: chocolate-orange. Cake size: 5”, 7”, 9” rounds (the stump board was HUGE)

The top “cover” of the box was also cake. Organic Maine Blueberry cake with vanilla bean filling. Everything was edible except the wires, which were inserted into straws so they never came in contact with the cake. It’s not visible in the photo, but there was a yellow bow on the side.

Diamond pattern was done freehand. Each tier had two different flavor layers separated by filling. Example: Bottom tier was 1 layer blueberry pancake, vanilla bean frosting, 1 layer vanilla bean cake = 1 tier. The top & middle tiers were crimson velvet & vanilla bean cakes separated by vanilla bean frosting. ~ This is my version of a marble cake, because normal marble cakes never tastes like anything special.

Cupcake tower with bunny in hat topper cake for the birthday boy to take home. The bunny head and hat were cake with all edible sugar sculpted details. (see cupcake tower photo for full effect) The client left a really nice review on my facebook page saying it tasted great! I love what I do!

Some have wondered, so here are my process photos proving this was infact ALL cake. It’s not a painting, it’s a large cake. Yes, it’s true! ;o) I don’t use any “tricks” when sculpting cakes. ~ I had lots of fun making this cake.
